Why is it attractive to be an Engineering Manager? – He/she acts as a bridge between engineering and economic professionals
Due to the combination of business and management knowledge with technical expertise, engineering managers are designed to play a key role in the next generation of managers in the engineering sector. Engineering management (and Technical management) is a specialized field of management concerned with the engineering sector. During our engineering (technical) management courses, students will develop industrial engineering skills, knowledge and expertise, alongside knowledge of business and management techniques, strategies and concerns. Our study is typically taught through a combination of lectures, case studies, hands-on workshops, laboratory-based practical classes, engineering design activities (we teach CAD and SOLIDWORKS in our labs), group and individual project work and consultation sessions. Our student-oriented focus means that we use our experience in international study programmes and give all support to our students to pass their courses and receive their diploma.
We offer Logistic Specialisation while we see as the global economy has expanded, logistics has become increasingly important. Estimates provided by the U.S. Department of Labour show that logistics jobs will increase in number by 25.5 percent from 2010 to 2020. Careers in logistics can begin anywhere while nearly every company and organization has a need for logistics managers. Logistics careers have traditionally been held by men, but women are becoming increasingly involved at all levels. Many women hold top positions in logistics companies and logistics departments. Logistics is also a stepping stone into the field of international business.

Mechanical Engineering BSc and MSc
Mechanical engineering is one of the broadest engineering disciplines. Mechanical engineers research, design, develop, build, and test mechanical and thermal sensors and devices, including tools, engines, and machines.
At the University of Dunaújváros we currently offer to our Mechanical Engineering students on bachelor level specialisations in Maintenance and in Mechatronics. Beside acquiring a high-level theoretic background students will receive an up-to-date practical training in our well-equipped laboratories and workshops. Our specialisation in Maintenance is unique within the country, and reflects the current need for professionals in the industrial sector. Students become initiated to the professional and practical skills related to maintenance technologies by acknowledged industrial specialists. They will also be acquainted with the strategic elements of maintenance that enable safe and cost-effective production overall in the industrial sector – from smaller enterprises to the large-mass production in highly authomatised factories.
The Institute of Engineering Sciences of the University of Dunaújváros is extending its R&D and innovation activities with electromobility. This field opens up new opportunities in the educational and research portfolio of the university. Complex mechatronic systems, electric drifts, sensor and actuator techniques, and computer-based control engineering – all these components, that consitute the main part of the Mechatronics specialisation, play a significant role in electric traffic and in the functioning and operation of electric vehicles.
For those who would like to continue their studies on master level, UOD offers the Mechanical Engineering MSc program with specialisation in Lifespan Management. This specialisation is not only popular among the students: experts in this area are in demand at industrial companies of the region, like ISD Dunaferr Company Group, Paks Nuclear Power Plant, and Hankook Tire.
Mechanical engineering is at the forefront of developing new technologies for a number of industries including transport, healthcare, construction, and robotics. 35 international students of the University took part in the excursion to Visegrád organized by the international office. The city of Visegrád is north of Budapest, it is one of the oldest town in Hungary. Up from the citadel, there is a beautiful view on the curve of the Danube. At least normally. Unfortunately the weather forecast predicted rain for the end of the week, and this time they were right. Drizzling rain and white fog awaited us, which prevented us to enjoy the sights. Luckily some programs made the student entertained. Our program consisted of a visit to life-like wax figure exhibition, a viewing of an exciting and humorous medieval knight contest and testing the mighty weapons of the knights. It was the first time for most of the students to shoot a bow for example. So referring back to the title, although the sky did not clear, the students could have gone home with some new experiences at the end of the day, which confirmed that it was a good excursion that is worth it to be organized.

As a further step in our already more than 3-year-old cooperation with the Ural Federal University (UrFU) in Ekaterinburg, Russia three representatives of UrFU
- Edward Patrakov, the Head of Department of Social Safety,
- Aleksandr Zhilin, an associate professor from the Institute of New Materials and Technologies,
- Damir Bajtimirov, a professor of the Physical Engineering Faculty
visited our campus from the 3rd April to the 7th April 2017 within the frames of Erasmus+ international credit mobility program.
Dr. Aleksandr Zhilin gave lectures to our international engineering students about the concept of degradation and failure assessment in construction materials, their important role in safe and reliable operation of high risk components and facilities.
Dr. Edward Patrakov continued negotiations with Dr. Katalin Kukoreli and Dr. Noémi Piricz, the representatives of our Social Sciences Institute and Dr. Csilla Szabó Marianna, the Director of our Teacher Training Institute in order to discuss further cooperation opportunities in research and education with the Hungarian colleagues.
After visiting the laboratories of our Institute of Engineering sciences and collecting information about the technical capabilities of the laboratories Dr. Aleksandr Zhilin and Dr. Damir Bajtimirov met Dr. Miklós Horváth, the Director of our Institute of Engineering Sciences and Dr. Judit Pázmán, the Head of the Materials Science Department to prepare the future mobilities of the engineering students from UrFU to the University of Dunaújváros within the international credit mobility program and to outline the potential ways of collaboration in testing and development of engineering materials.
As another essential part of their program our guests also had the opportunity to share their good experience in teaching with the lecturers of the teaching departments of our university and Dr. Edward Patrakov and Dr. Aleksandr Zhilin had checked and evaluated the already fulfiled and the new tasks of Erasmus+ international credit mobility project organisation and management in the form of a negotiation with the international relations coordinators of UOD. Mr. Zhilin also expressed their wish to start new cooperations in frame of the Erasmus + programme, especiall in the Strategic Partnership programme.

The University of Dunaújváros welcomed more than 700 guests between 6-8 May: 414 scientific papers has been presented by students arriving from 19 Hungarian higher educational institutions as UOD had the honour to host the Engineering Session of the XXXIII. National Scientific Students' Associations Conference (NSSAC).

The National Scientific Students' Associations Conference (NSSAC) is a scientific gathering during which the most outstanding scientific papers of the best university and college students are evaluated by boards of renowned Hungarian scientists and professors.
