The Student Union of the University of Dunaújváros welcomed new university citizens in the framework of the Freshmen's Camp held between 6-8 September 2018.

This year's event was special from many pont of views, but mostly because this was the first Camp where Hungarian and International students could enjoy the programs together.

On the first morning of the Camp students attended to orientation sessions where they could get insight into the university life in general, and received information about their chosen study program. The orientation morning was followed by team-building activities where 10 teams of Freshmen competed with each other.

On the second day Freshmen could attend to the Opening Ceremony of the academic year, and during the afternoon their adventures continued with geo catching and a video game party.

On the third and closing day the Camp continued on the Danube river bank at the Szalki island, the most beautiful natural-geographical spot in Dunaújváros. And last but not least, each day's program was followed by a party organized on Campus with both live music and DJ's in order to help the new students build a real community.

According to Dr. habil István András, rector of the university the number of students is growing slowly but surely, which is confirmed by more than a hundred International newcomers. International students arrive from a total of thirty countries most of them from Asia, Africa and the Middle East. A significant part of them can begin their studies within the framework of Stipendium Hungaricum and Young Christians scholarship programs. According to Dr. András their intention remains to continue to strengthen the student-centered approach which can help to avoid to have falling numbers.

Soon the lessons start for the students but before launching, the freshman’s camp welcomes the newbies from September 6th, Thursday until September 9th Sunday. In the evenings, Rockbox, Névtelen Utca and Dj. Juhász Laci will entertain the participants.

The representatives of the Chinese Service Center for Scholarly Exchange (CSCSE), Yang Ling Deputy Director, Han Hansen Deputy Director of International Cooperation Unit, Da Huo Program Director of International Co-operation Department and Wang Jing, The Head of the China Office of the University of Dunaújváros visited our university on the 5th September.

The delegation was received by Dr. István András PhD, Rector, Dr. Mónika Rajcsányi-Molnár PhD, Vice Rector of General and Academic Affairs and Kiss Ádám Sándor, Chancellor and Katalin Gyöngyössy, the Head of the International Relations Office.

The cooperation agreement between UOD and CSCSE was already signed in 2017. In China, CSCSE’s International Cooperation Department coordinates and supervises the international student exchange programs and the higher educational collaborations of the Chinese universities with partner universities from other countries. Furthermore the CSCSE is responsible for the adoption of the certificates and diplomas of Chinese students that they receive following their completed part-time or full-time studies abroad. The adoption procedure of the bachelor and master degree certificates of the Chinese students who studied in Hungary is essential to the Chinese students for their employment in P.R.C. Besides these tasks CSCSE provides supervision for the internationally acknowledged „Higher National Diploma” study programs at the universities in China, after the successful completion of which more and more students decides to apply for starting bachelor degree studies in English language at the University of Dunaújváros.

We believe that due to this meeting with CSCSE the already existing cooperation with Chinese partner universities will be extended and improved and it will also open opportunities for the establishment of new partnerships with universities in China.

The connection that binds the University of Dunaújváros together with the South-American country is not new at all. Our institution welcome 69 students between 2013 and 2015 for part-time studies thanks to the Science Without Borders scholarship. It is an integral part of the internationalization to establish and efficiently maintain connection with South-American, especially to Brazilian partners. Within the framework of our International Campus project ever since 2015 we are actively building our relationships outside of Europe as well, and for now we have 8 Brazilian higher-educational institutions among our partners. With them we seek opportunities for student and lecturer exchanges and for elaborated researches. With the university UNIS Educational Group located in Varginha for example we successfully handed in our common application for the Erasmus+ International Credit Mobility programme. Within two years 3 students and 12 staff mobilities were carried out between the institutions.

Based on the International Campus project our university has started its own scholarship programme called “Study and More” that provides students with the opportunity of spending a semester at the University of Dunaújváros for free. Thanks to this possibility we could welcome 15 students form 4 different partner universities from Brazil and we expect other 4 students in the upcoming semester too.

I want to welcome you all to this wondrous event celebrating our graduation ceremony.
I am honored to deliver this speech on behalf of the international students.
The University of Dunaújváros was the best choice for us to continue our studies and to be the first step towards our professional career.

The University of Dunaujvaros was not just a place where we registered ourselves in different lectures and exams but it was a place where we met new friends and together we built a strong bond through our social relations.
Saying goodbye is not an easy thing for any of us, and knowing that today will be our last day in the university gives the same painful feeling as when we left our homeland.
We would like to thank all our professors for their kindness and availability during good times and bad times.
The international office with all its wonderful and compassionate members, who helped us to get easily integrated in the society, they were always available and kind - answering our questions and solving our problems was their priority
We will never forget the memories that we had during the trips and events organized by the university.
Thanks also to the student office for their continuous efforts.
We will forever be grateful to the university for pointing us in the right direction towards the path of success.
Our adventure starts today…
Thank you all! Köszönöm!"

Congratulations to all our fresh graduates!
