Farewell speech by Amanuel Mekonnen Beyene on behalf of international graduates of the University of Dunaújváros.

At the graduation ceremony held on 28 June 2019 a graduate of our Mechanical Engineering master program, Amanuel Mekonnen Beyene from Ethiopia said goodbye to the university on behalf of the international students in the following speech:

Respected Rector, Members of the School Board, Teachers, Parents, Friends, and Fellow Graduates,

it is an honor to deliver my speech to all of you today. I am Amanuel Mekonnen, a student in masters of Mechanical Engineering, from Ethiopia. First of all, I would like to congratulate all of the students here.

Every end has a new beginning. Today might be the last day for some of us as student, but I believe our learning will actually start from today.

Hungary was the first country, besides Ethiopia, where I had to learn how to live on my own.  I was prepared to learn, explore, make new friends and get to know me as an individual self.

Before coming to Hungary, there was always someone to guide me, my teachers in schools, my elders and my family. But here I was starting a journey where I set the rules and guided myself. It had finally occurred to me that I had to leave my comfort zone and live a new reality. But today as I stand here, I am proud to say that I had made the right decision to come to Hungary. And it was the right choice to select the University of Dunaújváros which has well equipped laboratories and well experienced teachers.

The University of Dunaújváros was not just a place where we registered ourselves in different lectures and exams but it was a place where we met new friends and together we have built a strong bond through our social relations.

The international office with all its wonderful and compassionate members, and who helped us to get easily integrated in the society, and all management staffs they were always available and kind, answering our question: solving our problems was their priority

We will forever be grateful to the university for pointing us in the right direction to the path of success. Finally, congratulations once again and wish us good luck with the future ahead.

Let’s work hard, have fun and make history!

Thank you so much! Köszönöm!"
